LAYJET: A new cable laying technology...

... is accelerating expansion of the fibre optic network

The highways experts of the Styrian Provincial Government have given the impetus and initial contract for the development of LAYJET technology - a new, revolutionary cable laying process. Through the sophisticated use of modern cutter technology combined with flexible travelling formwork and state-of-the-art control technology, it is now possible to lay ducting directly in the road shoulder without permanently affecting the primary highway structure. It has taken two years of development, involving a wide range of experts and the Vienna University of Technology, before the process gained approval from the Styrian regional highways experts. The innovative, but non-disruptive cable laying method opens up a whole new dimension in expansion of fibre optic networks. For the first time, it is now possible to plan and lay paths for expanding fibre optic networks along the highway network without permanently affecting the highway structure. As a result, the “highway” site is particularly noted for long retention of integrity and legal certainty; and LAYJET technology significantly accelerates and facilitates expansion!
